Jan Knibbs M.A. is a fashion and textile designer specialising in embroidery. She creates beautiful bespoke garments and accessories ranging from jewellery to wedding dresses all adorned with her distinctive signature style of embroidery. She is constantly inspired by nature and the changing seasons and her favourite imagery includes delicate floral designs in appliqué, ribbon embroidery and beadwork in particular Swarovski crystals. In 2008 she was awarded the Swarovski Prize in an international embroidery competition and has also won the embroidery category in the British Bridal Awards. She often incorporates vintage fabrics, off-cuts and antique lace into her designs and as she makes everything herself this means that her work is also ethical. She has just launched a new couture label "something old...something new" creating one-off bespoke garments and accessories including neckpieces, corsages and wristbands providing an accessible way for everyone to access high-end couture embroidery. Jan devotes the utmost care and attention to detail to all her creations making each one a work of art, which can be treasured for many years to come. She also offers a bespoke embroidery service and works freelance for other designers. Jan has just obtained an MA at Bath Spa University and is now based in Ashburton in South Devon.
